The Vermont State House is the one of the nation’s most meticulously preserved state capitol buildings. Nick Artim, RAN’s heritage protection expert, has been responsible for a number of fire engineering services including engineering minimally obtrusive, high sensitivity smoke detection and emergency notification systems, evaluating and identifying methods to improve the fire issuance of the historic fabric, and identifying methods to comply with contemporary egress standards without damaging the building’s historic integrity.
Burlington, VT
Sheraton Burlington Hotel & Conference Center is Vermont’s largest hotel with 309 rooms and a conference center. It is located only a few minutes from downtown businesses, shopping, and Lake Champlain. There are also 5 ski areas within an hour of the hotel. One of the hotels services offers free shuttles to the Burlington International Airport to make in convenient for guests.
RAN Fire Protection Engineering provided consulting services for the smoke management systems at the Sheraton Burlington Hotel & Conference Center. RAN developed a detail code analysis which established criteria for obtaining a conditional certificate of occupancy. RAN developed the performance criteria for the existing smoke management system and outlined the parameters for the functional test. The work culminated in the granting of a full certification of occupancy.
South Burlington, VT
RAN Fire Protection Engineering assisted with the commissioning of emergency voice communication systems. Furthermore, RAN provided extensive troubleshooting and coordination of multiple engineering disciplines and trades to achieve success to ensure the project met all construction deadlines and needs. RAN’s services allowed for all F-16s to be sent away, in order for 20 F-35A fighter jets to be delivered. As of 2019, the Vermont Air National Guard was the first Air National Guard unit to acquire the F-35A fighter jet.
