2025 was a year of real momentum for RAN Fire Protection Engineering. Strategic growth, expanded expertise, and meaningful individual and organizational milestones made it the biggest year yet for RAN!
The Fire Protection Consortium Inc. Partners with RAN

One of the most significant developments of the year was the addition of The Fire Protection Consortium Inc. (FPI) to the RAN team. Founded in 2001, the practice is known for full-service fire protection, with a nationally recognized specialization in warehouse and storage occupancies.
This strategic partnership immediately expanded RAN’s geographic presence into Florida, Illinois, and Washington, while also significantly strengthening our technical depth.
We were also proud to welcome Carl Anderson and Gerald Schultz as principals within our leadership team. Together, they bring more than 70 years of combined experience in fire protection engineering, public-sector plan review, and national fire protection education through the NFPA. Their leadership and expertise further enhance our ability to deliver practical, technically sound solutions to our clients.
RAN Re-Selected for Statewide OGS Term Contract

RAN was proud to be re-awarded the New York State Office of General Services Fire Protection Engineering Services Term Contract. This continued selection reflects the strength of our long-standing relationship with OGS, our consistent delivery of high-quality engineering services, and the trust built through years of collaboration.
It also speaks to the depth of our team and the strong partnerships we maintain with our subconsultants, many of whom have extensive experience working alongside OGS. Being awarded this contract again reinforces RAN’s commitment to technical excellence, reliability, and loyalty to the clients and partners we serve.
Nick Artim Joins RAN Fire Protection Engineering
In 2025, we welcomed Nick Artim to RAN. Nick brings more than three decades of specialized experience protecting cultural heritage properties, including historic landmarks, museums, libraries, presidential residences, and national parks.
His career includes landmark projects such as the Statue of Liberty National Historic Site, New York and the Scottish Supreme Court, Edinburgh. Nick’s expertise significantly expands RAN’s capabilities in safeguarding cultural and historic resources.

Recognizing Excellence: SFPE Honors
We were honored to see our team members recognized by the Society of Fire Protection Engineers for their outstanding contributions:

Tim DeRuyscher, PE, FSFPE – SFPE John L. Bryan Award: Tim was honored with this prestigious award, which celebrates sustained commitment to mentoring, educating, and advancing the fire protection engineering profession. This dedication perfectly reflects one of RAN’s core values: sharing knowledge and supporting the next generation of engineers.
Michael Klemenz, PE, FSFPE, – SFPE Fellow: Michael was elevated to Fellow of the SFPE. This distinction is awarded in recognition of significant technical contributions, leadership, and service to the profession as well as the SFPE.

RAN Celebrated 15 Years

In August, RAN proudly celebrated its 15th anniversary! Since being established by Doug Nadeau in 2010, RAN has grown into a trusted fire protection engineering firm with an emphasis on technical rigor, professional development, and long-term client relationships. The success of the past 15 years is a direct result of the dedication of our entire team and the trust placed in us by our valued clients and partners.
Continuing the Momentum
None of this progress would be possible without the trust of our clients, the collaboration of our partners, and the dedication of our team.
We look forward to carrying this momentum into 2026 and continuing to serve our clients with the same dedication and applied engineering approach that has defined RAN for the past 15 years.
