August 2021 Newsletter
As many of you may know, in April we announced that RAN Fire Protection Engineering is growing! If you missed our April newsletter, click here to catch up on our new employee Tyler Tamblin and the introduction to our new building!
With the new building getting closer to completion and the inside looking drastically different, RAN is excited to show you the journey so far. The inside of the building is unrecognizable since the last newsletter and it’s progressing slowly but surely. Shortly after the before pictures were taken, the building was gutted and the line of sight was wall to wall. Only a few short weeks later, the framing for the walls were up! We got a glimpse of the building layout and what was in store for RAN. Another few weeks passed and the walls were complete. Rooms and offices were created, there are halls to walk through, and the building is starting to feel more and more like home.
Our excitement to move is growing, along with our new office’s developments! This newsletter is the half way point, so stay tuned for our next newsletter to see our progress!
With our continued success and growing backlog, RAN hired TWO new fire protection engineers to ensure satisfaction and earn our clients’ loyalty.
Our first employee is Sam Wile! Sam started interning with RAN in 2018 through 2020, and this year we are excited to have her as a part of our full-time staff! Sam provides us with her outstanding skill set and we cannot wait to see her blossom with RAN.
Sam graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in May of 2021 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Architectural Engineering, and is now working on earning her Master’s Degree in Fire Protection Engineering. Sam is expected to complete her Master’s in December of 2023.
Sam has worked on numerous fire protection projects with RAN during her time as an intern. We were pleased with how she handled the projects and have always seen her as a part of the team. With her outstanding experience and knowledge in Fire Protection Engineering, Sam was awarded with the James R O’Neil/W Robert Powers Scholarship by the NJ/Metro NY SFPE.
In her free time, Sam loves to play volleyball. She has played for many years and her love for the game grows with time. It is a fun way to relax, have fun, and pass the time.
Sam expressed that after her three years interning at RAN, this was where she wanted to work. She loves the staff, opportunities, and environment, as well as how much she has grown with her time here. We are excited to have her back and cannot wait for what is in store.
Our second new full-time employee is James Rios!
James graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 2020 with his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and is currently working towards earning his Master’s in Fire Protection Engineering. He is expected to complete his master’s classes by the fall of 2022.
Before coming to RAN, James worked on numerous projects and developed a variety of skills and deepened his knowledge in multiple engineering disciplines. The experience he gained helps him accomplish any task thrown at him and complete any challenge that stands in his way.
At a young age, James was accomplishing many things and showing off his skills. He learned how to ski his first diamonds at only three years old and participated at a competition in Disney with his school’s Jazz Band team. If that is not impressive enough, he learned how to bike in Japan around Mount Fuji.
Outside of work, James is a musician and an avid biker. He loves to take his dog out for walks, especially with his friends and family. Also, during the COVID-19 lockdown, he would have phone conversations with friends and family while cooking new recipes.
James knew RAN was where he wanted to work when a good friend vouched for the positive environment that RAN provides and the focus on fostering strong engineers. James got to experience how RAN encourages our engineers to challenge themselves and offer any resource that they may need. Once hearing and seeing this first hand, James felt comfortable and at home. He brings heart and skill to RAN and we could not be anymore excited to see him grow as an engineer.
Along with our two new employees, RAN also had three interns this summer! Want to find out more about them? Click here to read their blog!
RAN is continuously growing and we are excited to see where the next few years will bring us. With every moment that passes, our skills evolve, experience is gained, relationships grow stronger, and loyalty is earned.
