Recently RAN Fire Protection Engineering worked on a project at John Jay Homestead, which was home to one of America’s Founding Fathers, John Jay. We were hired to design a fire suppression system, and the system we concluded to design was a high-pressure water mist suppression system. Once sensors detect a fire, the system produces fine droplets of mist, which cools and suppresses the fire. Rather than a typical fire sprinkler, where streams of water are released, water mist systems deploy significantly less water so there is notably less water damage. As a result, this preserves the historical aspects of the property. It was such an honor to be able to contribute to this impactful project.
