History
In 1998, Douglas Nadeau, P.E. wrote the business plan for a fire protection engineering firm while working in Boston. After starting and running a successful MEP engineering company, Doug had the opportunity to open RAN Fire Protection Engineering, P.C. in 2010. RAN was founded on the principle of providing opportunities to its clients and employees. Since its inception, the business has grown to provide clients across the country with solutions that are personalized to meet each project’s needs.

The firm has worked on high-rises, correctional facilities, nuclear plants, commercial, and historical buildings, just to name a few. RAN employs passionate professionals with a broad range of experiences, talents, and training. Our employees are a vibrant and dynamic group of individuals, creating a unique and productive culture. Leadership
Douglas Nadeau, PE is the President of RAN Fire Protection Engineering, P.C. Doug has Bachelor Degrees in both Mechanical Engineering and Physics, as well as a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Fire Protection Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

​With over 25 years of industry experience, Doug’s role ranges from design, coordination, and management of RAN's fire protection projects to executive responsibilities in all aspects of the firm’s work. Doug is also the Co-Founder and Vice President of truVUE Inspection Technologies Inc, an instructor at UCLA extension, and enjoys giving speeches on engineering and business nationally and internationally.

Christopher Crivello, PE is a Principal and licensed Fire Protection Project Engineer at RAN Fire Protection Engineering, P.C. Chris received his Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Fire Protection Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

Chris has a decade of leading fire protection design engineering at RAN. In 2017, he was crowned the National Fire Sprinkler Association Top Tech Champion, in a “Jeopardy” style tournament awarded biennially to the champion and top fire protection designer throughout all of North America who best exemplifies knowledge in the design, installation and maintenance of fire protection systems.

With offices located in Albany, NY and Rochester, NY, a RAN office is located just a short drive from any project location within the Northeast. RAN's reach extends throughout the country and the world. RAN's engineers have National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying Records which allow them to retain licensure in multiple states and internationally.
